The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, fsi, mspsp, has hosted the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, on a high-level strategic visit to the Command Headquarters in Obalende, Lagos.

A statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Adebayo Rasheed Adesayo, revealed that the landmark maiden engagement was engineered to forge a tighter partnership and turbocharge the Command’s operational capacity to secure the region’s vast maritime domain.
In his remarks, Dr. Ogunsan lauded AIG Nurat’s visionary leadership, identifying the Maritime Police Command as a linchpin in Lagos State’s security architecture. While commending the Command’s rapid response mechanism on the waterways, the LSSTF boss particularly applauded the AIG’s recent tactical interventions along the Apapa Port Corridor, describing the resulting restoration of law and order as highly laudable.
Dr. Ogunsan emphasized that the high-profile visit went far beyond standard institutional protocol, serving as a concrete blueprint of the Fund’s unwavering commitment to reinforcing security agencies across Lagos State. Turning words into immediate action, the LSSTF boss presented the Command with a vital array of operational and protective gear—including bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, raincoats, and boots—specifically curated to maximize officer safety and operational effectiveness.

Responding to the gesture, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, fsi, mspsp, extended her deep appreciation to Dr. Ogunsan and the LSSTF team for their unwavering alliance. She championed the Fund as an indispensable ally in the collective mission to protect lives, property, critical infrastructure, and overriding economic interests. AIG Nurat noted that policing a complex mega-city environment like Lagos demands a unified front powered by continuous collaboration between security agencies, the government, the private sector, and civic stakeholders.
The Maritime Police Chief further threw weight behind the absolute necessity of fortifying Lagos’ vast waterways, ports, terminals, and jetties. She stressed that any security ripples within the maritime domain directly dictate the pace of commerce, transportation, national revenue generation, and the broader economic climate. While acknowledging the critical logistical lifeline handed to the Command, the AIG guaranteed the LSSTF that the assets would be deployed with maximum accountability to upgrade personnel safety and response speeds.
Reaffirming the Command’s roadmap, AIG Nurat declared that the Maritime Police Command remains entirely aligned with the overarching vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM. She anchored this commitment on core pillars of strict professionalism, transparent accountability, intelligence-led operations, and deep-seated stakeholder partnerships. AIG Nurat firmly assured both the LSSTF and the public of the Command’s unrelenting resolve to dominate the maritime space, shield critical economic infrastructure, and serve as an impenetrable shield in the security architecture of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
