The global spotlight is on Hong Kong today as the 2026 Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport—CILT—International Convention officially got underway. Centred on the theme, “Global Corridors, Collaboration Excellence,” the prestigious summit opened with an exclusive welcome cocktail hosted by CILT Hong Kong at the iconic Hopewell Hotel.

Leading a powerhouse delegation to this pivotal global gathering is the National President of CILT Nigeria, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, OFR, FCILT. The opening night provided an elite networking avenue, allowing Dr. Oyeyemi and other Nigerian delegates to interface, exchange strategic ideas, and strengthen ties with CILT branch presidents and global supply chain captains from around the world.
While official organisers have kept the exact number of participating nations under wraps, the convention is pulling heavy weight. Over 300 delegates are on the ground, including more than 200 international participants and mainland Chinese representatives shaping the future of global transit, supply chains, and freight systems.
Founded in the United Kingdom in 1919 and granted its Royal Charter in 1926, CILT has grown into a massive international powerhouse. It boasts a direct presence in over 40 countries, driving a global network of over 35,000 members across roughly 100 nations.
This year’s event unfolds under the global leadership of CILT International President Jan Steenberg, FCILT, who stepped into office earlier this year alongside President-Elect Romesh David. Locally, the hosting duties are spearheaded by CILT Hong Kong President, Professor Sam Man-sang Chow.

The high-octane summit features a brilliant line-up of speakers. Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, John KC Lee, graces the event as the Guest of Honour, alongside Keynote Speaker Mable Chan, the region’s Secretary for Transport and Logistics.
Top-tier technical tracks over the coming days will dissect critical themes:
- The Global Corridor Panel: Featuring industry giants like Vivian Cheung of the Airport Authority Hong Kong and Theresa Yeung of Arup East Asia.
- The AI Frontier: An exclusive fireside chat on AI Applications in Logistics, featuring Professor Max Shen from the University of Hong Kong and Global President Jan Steenberg.
- Collaboration Excellence: Insights from MTR Corporation’s Wilson Kwong and Sky Shuttle Helicopters’ Zheng Yan.
- Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT): Led by prominent executives including FedEx China’s Poh-Yian Koh and Vivien Lau of the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre.
Over the next few days, delegates can look forward to a comprehensive itinerary. The schedule features the CILT Annual General Meeting, crucial Next Generation workshops, high-level networking, gala dinners, and technical visits across Hong Kong, Macau, and the Chinese Mainland.
Stakeholders back home are wishing the CILT Nigeria delegation a highly impactful summit, with high expectations that the insights gained will drive growth, innovation, and infrastructure across the country’s transport sector.
