PSC Names AIG Auwal POLAC Commandant, Deploys 8 CPs with Strict Neutrality Order

The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday, August 5, greenlit a major high-level redeployment, appointing Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) in Wudil, Kano. Alongside this flagship appointment, the Commission approved the strategic deployment of eight new Commissioners of Police (CPs) to spearhead various state commands across the federation.

A veteran operative with over 33 years of decorated service, AIG Auwal brings a wealth of expertise spanning high-stakes operations, complex criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing, and institutional training.

The Bayero University alumnus—who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Policy—is a respected member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. His extensive leadership portfolio includes stellar tenures as Commandant of the Police College Maiduguri, CP of Bauchi State, and AIG overseeing both Zone 3 and Zone 6.

Meanwhile, the historic deployment order was officially signed and certified by Torty Njoku Kalu (anipr), the Head of Protocol and Public Relations for the Commission, on 5 August 2026, alongside Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

In a synchronized effort to sustain operational efficiency across critical state commands, the Police Service Commission has authorized the immediate deployment of eight newly appointed Commissioners of Police. The strategic assignments follow the recent promotions of former state police chiefs, a move designed by the police high command to fill vital administrative vacuums and optimize national security.

The newly assigned state police chiefs and their immediate past postings include;

Abia State: CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (formerly CP Admin, Training & Development → CP Abia)

Plateau State: CP Ayodeji Faniyan, fdc (formerly CP Admin, Police Cooperative Lagos → CP Plateau)

Bayelsa State: CP Saka Adewale Ajao (formerly CP Admin, FCID Annex Gombe → CP Bayelsa)

Cross River State: CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (formerly CP INTERPOL Abuja → CP Cross River)

The administrative wave further extends to critical security flashpoints across the southern and northern regions;

Anambra State: CP Nnanna Oji Ama (formerly CP Intelligence → CP Anambra)

Edo State: CP Patrick Daaor (formerly CP Admin, FID Abuja → CP Edo)Jigawa State: CP Tijani Murtala (→ CP Jigawa).

Delta State: CP Samuel Erale Etaifo (→ CP Delta)

Presiding over the high-level plenary session, Honorable Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd) delivered a stern, uncompromising directive to the newly deployed police chiefs. Justice Galumje, a prominent Board Member and Honorable Commissioner 1 of the Commission, explicitly charged the officers to “stand firm, uphold the rule of law, and remain neutral and diligent” as they take over their new commands.

The strategic briefing featured active participation from the Commission’s top executive leadership hierarchy. Notable board members in attendance to ratify the sweeping deployments included Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Honorable Justice Christine Ladi Dabup (rtd), and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, the administrative Secretary to the Commission.

The operational shifts come amid growing public demands for institutional transparency and strict political neutrality across state police commands. By reinforcing these core governance values during the session, the board seeks to fortify civil-military relations and ensure an unbiased approach to regional policing.
