Beijing, China – June 16, 2026
As part of his continued strategic engagements to advance Nigeria’s technological transformation agenda and deepen economic diplomacy in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, His Excellency, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd.), Nigeria’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, today visited the Huawei EBC Exhibition Centre alongside the company’s top management team.
The visit provided the Ambassador with the opportunity to experience Huawei’s state-of-the-art digital facilities and innovative solutions in smart governance, digital power, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies shaping the future of global development. The delegation also explored Huawei’s digital technologies powering many modern Electric Vehicle (EV) models and smart infrastructure systems.
Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Dambazau noted that Huawei, which commenced operations in 1988 and entered the Nigerian market in 1999, has grown to become one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications technology partners, supplying critical infrastructure to major network operators, including MTN Nigeria, while also delivering enterprise solutions, cloud services, and digital power systems.

He described Huawei’s remarkable growth trajectory as a testament to discipline, determination, innovation, and selflessness, highlighting the company’s significant contributions to digital transformation efforts across the globe.
While commending Huawei’s contributions to Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, Ambassador Dambazau urged the company to place greater emphasis on creating opportunities for Nigeria’s youthful population through skills development, digital training, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives. He emphasized that, as a long-standing and successful partner in Nigeria, Huawei has a strategic role to play in empowering Nigerian youths and strengthening the country’s human capital base.
The Ambassador further stressed that the future of work will increasingly be driven by technology and innovation, with a significant proportion of emerging jobs requiring ICT and digital competencies. He therefore underscored the importance of fostering strategic partnerships that equip Nigerian youths with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving global digital economy.

The visit further reflects Ambassador Dambazau’s proactive and results-oriented approach to diplomacy, leveraging the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China to attract technology, knowledge, investment, and partnerships that support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation, and create sustainable opportunities for national development and future generations of Nigerians.
