The Bauchi State Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the World Bank-assisted Sustainable Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) Project has intensified efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships and promote evidence-based interventions through courtesy visits to the Bauchi State Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project office.

The engagements were aimed at fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships that will enhance the effective implementation of development initiatives targeted at internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities across the state.

During the visit to the Bauchi State Bureau of Statistics, the State Project Coordinator of the SOLID Project, Dr. Abdulsamad Abubakar, presented an overview of the project’s objectives and implementation strategy. Discussions centered on areas of synergy between both institutions, particularly in data collection, management, monitoring, and statistical analysis.
Dr. Abdulsamad emphasized that access to reliable and accurate data remains critical to effective planning and execution of interventions designed to improve the socio-economic well-being of vulnerable populations in Bauchi State.
Responding, the Statistician-General of Bauchi State, Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, assured the SOLID Project team of the Bureau’s readiness to provide the necessary technical and data support required for successful project implementation.

He commended the project team for recognizing the Bureau as a strategic partner and expressed confidence that the collaboration would strengthen evidence-based decision-making and contribute to the realization of the development vision of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration. According to him, the partnership would ultimately support sustainable development outcomes for displaced persons and their host communities.
Similarly, during a visit to the ACReSAL Project office, Dr. Abdulsamad Abubakar lauded the project’s achievements in environmental restoration, climate resilience, and conflict reduction, noting that both initiatives share common objectives of improving livelihoods and enhancing community resilience.
In his response, the ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, represented by the Forestry Officer of the project, Nasir Abdu Umar, reaffirmed the project’s commitment to supporting the SOLID Project through technical guidance, experience sharing, and institutional collaboration.
He noted that the engagement marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership between the two World Bank-supported projects, united by a shared vision of advancing sustainable environmental management, social inclusion, and community development across Bauchi State.
