Marwa Visits Injured NDLEA Heroes, Promises Justice; Vows Crackdown on Illicit Drugs Continues

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has visited two injured officers currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, promising them the agency’s full support.

NDLEA Spokesman Femi Babafemi, in a statement issued on Wednesday, May 26, identified the casualties as Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim. The two operatives were violently ambushed by a mob while raiding a notorious drug joint in Dawaki, Abuja, on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Visiting their bedsides on Monday, May 25, Marwa sympathized with the wounded operatives and extended the full support of the NDLEA management team. He assured them that the agency would take absolute responsibility for their welfare, guaranteeing access to the highest standard of medical treatment until they are fully rehabilitated.

“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested, and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa further declared that the agency would ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

He commended the duo for their exceptional bravery, unalloyed commitment to duty, and outstanding professionalism during the high-risk Dawaki operation. He emphasized that their sacrifices remain invaluable to the nation’s ongoing campaign against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

To boost morale and honor their heroism, the NDLEA boss backed his visit with the immediate rollout of incentives. This included the presentation of official Letters of Commendation personally signed by the Chairman, alongside other support packages to aid their swift recovery.

The Chairman further praised the NDLEA medical team and their counterparts at the National Hospital for the prompt response and high-quality care that stabilized the injured officers.

He assured the public that the agency remains resolute in its mission to dismantle drug cartels and sanitize communities nationwide, undeterred by violent resistance from criminal elements.
