The Bauchi State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and with support from the UK Government, has launched the Climate Resilience Infrastructure for Basic Services (CRIBS) project to improve healthcare and education facilities across the state.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Jatau, said the initiative aligns with the administration’s “My Bauchi Plan” and would strengthen climate-resilient infrastructure in key sectors.
The Governor said the project would upgrade 15 primary healthcare centres and nine primary schools in five local government areas, creating safer and more conducive environments for learning and healthcare delivery.
He also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to healthcare funding and counterpart contributions for development projects.
In her remarks, the Chief of UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, said the project would help provide schools and health facilities with improved water, sanitation and climate-resilient structures to protect children and mothers.
She stressed the need for communities, journalists and traditional leaders to support efforts aimed at protecting children from the growing impact of climate change

The Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Sani Mohammed Dambam, commended UNICEF and partners for supporting efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare services in the state
