The Bauchi State Government has inaugurated a high-level steering committee under the World Bank-supported Sustainable Solution for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) Project to tackle the challenges of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and strengthen vulnerable communities.

Performing the inauguration at the Government House, Bauchi, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammad Auwal Jatau, who chairs the committee, described the initiative as a transformative effort to address the root causes of displacement and rebuild livelihoods.

Jatau said the project aligns with the administration’s commitment to inclusive development, stressing that no citizen should be left behind regardless of their circumstances.

He noted that the committee would serve as the central engine for policy direction, ensuring that all resources, programmes, and decisions under the initiative reflect the priorities of the Bala Mohammed-led government.

He charged members to work with unity and accountability, emphasizing the need for strong inter-sectoral collaboration to guarantee success.

The Deputy Governor also urged the committee to sustain the project’s gains beyond its funding cycle through integration into government systems and budgetary support.

In his remarks, the State SOLID Project Coordinator, Dr. Abdulsamad Abubakar, said the committee is tasked with providing high-level oversight and coordination to ensure effective implementation of the intervention.
