Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State under the All Progressives Congress, promising prudent management of public resources.

Speaking to supporters in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area, the senator said his decision followed a seven-year assessment of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party administration, which he believes can be improved upon.
Buba stated that his team has compiled verifiable data on federal allocations to the state and conducted independent analyses of project execution and costs. He argued that the findings raise “valid questions” about resource utilization and pledged to pursue transparency and accountability if elected. According to him, the goal is to initiate a new phase of governance anchored on evidence-based decision-making
He described his ambition as part of a broader push to “reclaim Bauchi” and deliver better governance, promising to unveil a comprehensive, knowledge-driven blueprint in the coming weeks. The document, he said, will outline the state’s current realities, growth potential, and a multi-sectoral development plan.
Citing his record in Bauchi South, Buba assured supporters that the developmental strides recorded in the district would be replicated statewide under his leadership.
