Early morning chaos in Lagos as a BRT bus bursts into flames outward Majidun, Ikorodu. Sooth News confirms the incident occurred just before 7:00 AM today, Wednesday, March 11. Emergency reports are still unfolding as the blaze took hold during the morning rush.
The blaze broke out as the BRT bus was heading out of the Majidun-Ikorodu corridor, nearly within sight of the LAMATA office at Majidun. The proximity to the transport authority’s facility added a layer of irony to the morning’s chaos.
While Sooth News cannot yet confirm any casualties or injuries, eyewitnesses captured footage of the BRT vehicle completely enveloped in flames. Passersby were seen documenting the scene as emergency services were awaited.
Disturbingly, Sooth News reports that the bus remained engulfed in flames without any visible safety intervention. Onlookers watched helplessly as the fire intensified before emergency responders could arrive.
Although, official reports from LASTMA are still pending, but Sooth News can confirm the devastating blaze after witnessing the scene at Majidun earlier this morning.
Similarly, this marks the second such fire in recent days, following the March 3 incident where a BRT bus was destroyed on the Mile 12 bridge heading toward Ketu.
Sooth News is advocating for enhanced safety measures across the BRT network. As commuters grapple with hiked fares of nearly ₦1,000, the authorities must act now to ensure that passenger safety is never compromised.
