The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq, MON, FCILT, Ph.D led the Council’s management team on a high-level courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in Abeokuta on Friday, March 6, 2026. The meeting underscored the ongoing collaboration between the Council and the state government to advance key maritime and logistics infrastructure.
Commending the Ogun State Government’s steadfast dedication, Dr. Akutah expressed strong optimism that the landmark project is nearing completion. He noted that the state’s proactive approach has paved the way for the facility to transition from a vision to a operational reality in the near future.
” It is our desire to promote critical transport infrastructure like Inland Dry Port which you have thrown your weight behind. I know we will achieve it before your tenure comes to an end. We have legacy dry ports across Nigeria. Many of them are moving slowly but Ogun State is different. This is the reason we always use the Ogun dry port project as an example whenever we are discussing ”, he said.
According to Dr. Akutah, the Council is committed to removing bottlenecks and ensuring a friction-free trade environment, driving the seamless flow of cargo and setting a new standard for the ease of doing business.
Governor Dapo Abiodun lauded the Nigerian Shippers’ Council delegation, led by Dr. Akutah Pius, reaffirming that the Gateway Inland Dry Port is a cornerstone of the state’s industrial agenda.
He underscored the project’s role as a powerful economic engine, set to drive growth for local industries while solving the long-standing challenge of raw material transit from Lagos. By streamlining these logistics, the Governor noted, Ogun State is solidifying its position as Nigeria’s premier industrial and commercial hub.
