Marwa: NDCMP 2026-2030 to Strengthen Nigeria’s Drug Control Measures

Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), the NDLEA boss, has said that the new National Drug Control Master Plan (NDCMP 2026-2030) will strengthen Nigeria’s ongoing drug control efforts.

In a statement released on Thursday, February 26, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, noted that Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) stated this at the Agency’s national headquarters in Abuja. While receiving the final summative evaluation report on the NDCMP 2021-2025, Marwa said that with the holistic efforts being put into the next master plan, its implementation will have a significant positive impact on public health and national security.

The Chairman commended the team of consultants, led by Prof. Ibrahim Abdu Wakawa, Head of the Mental Health Department at the University of Maiduguri, for their exceptional evaluation of the NDCMP 2021-2025.

While extolling their efforts, the NDLEA boss stated: “I must commend your commitment, diligence, and the excellent job you have done on the evaluation of the NDCMP 2021-2025. Your acknowledgement of the successes recorded by the Agency in implementing the drug supply and demand reduction pillars of the Master Plan is equally appreciated. I want it on record that by the time the NDCMP 2026-2030 is fully ready and implemented, we will achieve much more under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the benefit of all Nigerians.”

Earlier, Prof. Wakawa lauded Marwa’s visionary leadership, noting that the Agency has significantly surpassed most expectations outlined in the 2021-2025 NDCMP. He expressed firm confidence that the Agency will bridge any identified gaps, particularly within drug demand reduction, during the implementation of the 2026-2030 cycle.

Prof. Wakawa was accompanied by team members Mrs. Ngozi Oguejiofor and Mrs. Ibiba Odili, both of whom are retired Assistant Commanders General of Narcotics (ACGN) and former heads of the NDCMP Secretariat.
