Corporate Citizenship in Action: Shippers’ Council Donates Dental Suite to Apapa Hospital

Boosting community wellness to power a sustainable Blue Economy, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council has equipped the dental unit of General Hospital Apapa with a modern, adjustable dental chair. This significant donation reflects the Council’s proactive CSR strategy, aimed at nurturing healthy relationships with its host communities while ensuring that local healthcare infrastructure can meet the needs of a productive maritime workforce.

This was confirmed in a press release issued by the Council’s Head of Public Relations, Rebecca Adamu. She noted that the equipment was presented to the hospital by the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Council, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, MON, who was represented by Mr. Moses Abere, Director of the Council’s Special Duties Department.

During the handover, Dr. Akutah highlighted the Council’s mission to improve lives through targeted CSR. By strengthening the medical infrastructure at Apapa General Hospital, the Council continues to prove that sustainable development begins with the health and well-being of the people.

However,
beyond its modern design, the newly donated chair is a vital upgrade for the hospital’s dental unit. By integrating ergonomic functionality with advanced patient support, the equipment reduces strain on medical staff and elevates the standard of oral healthcare, ensuring a more comfortable and efficient environment for recovery.

Dr. Lateefat Omolara Agbaje, MD/CEO of General Hospital Apapa, lauded the Nigerian Shippers’ Council for its “impactful and timely” intervention. According to Dr. Agbaje, this donation is a game-changer for local healthcare, as it will directly improve access to specialized oral care, streamline dental procedures, and ensure that the hospital can serve a greater number of patients with increased efficiency.

Efficiency in the ports, excellence in the community. The Nigerian Shippers’ Council continues to prove that its influence extends far beyond the maritime sector.
This strategic investment in the health of the Apapa community highlights the Council’s dedication to human-centered development, ensuring that as the Blue Economy grows, the well-being of every Nigerian remains at the forefront of its agenda.
