Freshly admitted students of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) have been urged to treat their university education as a serious commitment requiring discipline, dedication and focus.
The charge was delivered during a one-day orientation programme for new students at the institution’s Yuli Campus.

Speaking at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Musa Adamu Wunti, described the orientation as a critical platform designed to acquaint students with the dos and don’ts of university life. He said the programme was structured to guide them on acceptable conduct and the standards required to achieve their academic goals.
Prof. Wunti cautioned the students against engaging in anti-social vices, stressing that the university maintains zero tolerance for cultism and other forms of misconduct capable of tarnishing its image.

He reminded them that their recent matriculation signified the beginning of a new academic journey anchored on character and academic excellence.
He further urged the students to uphold the values instilled in them by their parents and to build a reputation defined by integrity and hard work.
According to him, the orientation would expose them to the institution’s rules and regulations, examination procedures, career development pathways, and responsible conduct, including insights from security and drug law enforcement officials.

Also addressing the students, the Registrar, Dr. A. G. Hassan, called for strict adherence to university regulations to ensure successful graduation with commendable results.
He reminded them of the oath taken during matriculation and encouraged them to let it guide their conduct, describing the Registry as the gateway into and out of the university and a vital source of administrative support throughout their academic pursuit.
