A Nigerian national, Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, has been arrested by the FBI and faces federal charges for allegedly assaulting a federal agent and evading arrest during an immigration enforcement operation.
The two defendants, Oluwadamilola Bamigboye and Rekeya Frazier, were arraigned in federal court today on charges of assaulting a federal officer.
On December 10, HSI agents went to Bamigboye’s apartment in Plymouth, Minnesota, to apprehend him in connection with an alleged student visa overstay. The reported incident occurred during this operation.
HSI agents arrived at the scene and, according to FOX 9, immediately started watching Bamigboye’s car, which was parked nearby.
Scanning the scene, agents spotted a second vehicle—an SUV—pulled up right next to Bamigboye’s.
Federal agents closed in on the SUV. Peering inside, they found Bamigboye slumped in the passenger seat, while the driver—Frazier, believed to be his girlfriend—remained behind the wheel.
Agents displayed their badges, clarifying they intended to question Bamigboye regarding his immigration status. The criminal complaint notes Bamigboye grew defiant, demanding to know what kind of police they were. The agents identified themselves as HSI.
The situation escalated instantly. Bamigboye scrambled into the backseat, shouting at Frazier to start the engine. An agent vaulted into the passenger seat, trying desperately to prevent their escape. Despite the agent’s intervention, Frazier slammed the accelerator, driving the SUV away.
