The League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land, Edo and Delta have confirmed Sheikh Abdulrazak Abdulazzez Ishola as Grand Mufti.
Sheikh Ishola, a versatile Islamic Scholar who offer lectures in and outside the Country. He is also the Chairman of Al-Abrar Travels & Tours.
The Grand Mufti of Lagos, Edo & Delta is blessed with unadulterated knowledge of Islam, his deep knowledge and staunch zeal of always impacting knowledge. In addition of his knowledge, he is committed to spreading it both domestically and internationally, he has knowledge on communication technology and is also an expertise in moon sighting which stands him tall in the course of religious dissemination. The League is the platform of all Imams and Islamic Scholars responsible for coordinating Islamic activities in the old western region of the Country, comprising 8 states from the region, namely, Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, and Osun. Others are Ondo, and Oyo, including Edo and Delta States mainly to foster Unity in Diversity and call to Oneness of God Almighty, enhance the well-being of Islamic Clerics and Muslim faithful.
The brain behind the establishment of the League was hatched in 1962 by Sheikh Abdullahi Adam Al Alori, but became fully operational in 1964 after carrying out due consultation with stakeholders ans secure their consent within 2-year.
The following are the objectives of the league, facilitate the professionalization of the job of Muslim Clerics, Enhance the welfare of the less privileged, To bridge the gap between Muslim Community and the Government, Eradicate religious ignorance and encourage search for knowledge via publications and Human Development Capacity.
The League has contributed toward building a world class Secretariat at Bodija, Ibadan, contributed toward reshaping the way Ramadan always commence annually, Ummah were guided on the right thing to do in line the Sunah, it has also organized several seminars to further educate the Ummah, Engaging the Muslims Monarchs within the region for Da’awah Activities.
The turbaning ceremony of Sheikh Abdulrazak Abdulazzez Ishola as Grand Mufti of Lagos, Edo and Delta is scheduled to hold on the 21st September, 2025 at Liberty Stadium Ibadan, Oyo State, with President Bola Tinubu, GCFR as Distinguished, Special Guest of Honor, while H.E. Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor as Special Guest of Honour and Chief Conferer of the Investiture will be Chief Al-Imam Jamiu Kewulere.
The Grand Mufti is expected to be turbaned with six others prominent Sheikhs who are also conferred with different responsibilities.
