Police Academy Commences 10 New NUC-Approved Postgraduate Programmes

In a major boost to Nigeria’s security education, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has greenlit 10 new postgraduate programmes for the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil. This major academic expansion opens fresh doors for advanced studies in cutting-edge security and professional disciplines. The official nod comes on the heels of a thorough resource verification visit by an NUC delegation, which meticulously evaluated the Academy’s faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and learning infrastructure before giving the go-ahead for full-time operations.

Announced in an official academy release on Friday, June 19, the approved curriculum covers advanced tracks in crime management, peace studies, law, business, and sciences. The newly cleared programs include an MCM and PGD in Crime Management, Prevention and Control; a PGD in Peace and Conflict Studies; and a PGD in Police Studies. Additionally, the NUC greenlit an M.Sc. and MBA in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship; a PGD and M.Sc. in Management Studies; alongside Postgraduate Diplomas and Master of Science degrees in Law, Biochemistry, Financial Economics, and Forensic DNA.

Shifting from its traditional focus on senior police personnel, the Academy stated that these newly approved programmes are now accessible to officers from other security and intelligence agencies, as well as the general public. Management noted that comprehensive details regarding entry requirements, application deadlines, and registration procedures will be announced via official portals in the coming days.
