The Presidency has officially commissioned two newly completed 40-room ensuite female hostels at Sa’adu Zungur University in Bauchi State.

The projects, located at the Gadau Main Campus and Yuli Campus, were unveiled as part of the 2024 TETFund Annual Intervention Projects being rolled out across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

The commissioning ceremony took place at the Gadau Main Campus, with the Executive Secretary of TETFund represented by the Bauchi State Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, who in turn was represented by Permanent Secretary Malam Isa Mohammed Tahir.

Speaking at the event, SAZU Vice Chancellor Professor Fatimah Tahir called the hostels a major milestone in the university’s effort to create a conducive learning environment.

She stressed that adequate accommodation is essential to student success and praised TETFund for its sustained support of higher education.

The new facilities, she said, will ease accommodation challenges, boost student comfort and security, and help foster academic excellence.

She expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for upholding TETFund’s mandate and to the contractors and supervisors who delivered the projects.

Representing the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary Malam Isa Mohammed Tahir described the hostels as more than buildings, calling them “a home away from home” where friendships will be formed and future leaders developed. He noted that a secure and supportive living environment is key to academic achievement and urged students to maintain the facilities for future use.

The commissioning reinforces the Federal Government’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure and improving living and learning conditions across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
