Amid escalating tensions, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced a new set of maritime regulations for the waters along its southern coastline. This move aims to tighten control over strategic routes in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, with the IRGC Navy asserting its dominance over nearly 2,000 km of Iran’s vital maritime borders.
Iranian state media, led by Press TV, reported a major escalation in maritime policy late Friday into Saturday morning. This shift follows a chilling ultimatum from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who warned that foreign powers harboring ‘ominous plots’ in the Persian Gulf would find no place in the region—except at the bottom of its waters.
Casting U.S. regional power as an empty threat, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei,
labeled American bases in West Asia ‘paper tigers’ during the broadcast. He challenged the notion of U.S. military superiority, arguing that Washington is increasingly incapable of ensuring its own security as the standoff with Tehran intensifies.
