The WikkiTimes Media Foundation has strongly condemned the alleged brutal assault on Bauchi-based journalist, Mohammed Adamu of Albarka Radio, by officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Bununu, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to reports, Adamu was stopped from entering the designated media area by a police constable, and when he identified himself as a journalist, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Jamilu Kabir, ordered him to vacate the premises. When Adamu insisted on his rights, he was physically assaulted by police officers.

In a press statement, the Foundation announced plans to file a lawsuit against the Nigeria Police Force, the Bauchi State Police Command, and SP Jamilu Kabir, seeking damages for physical assault and violation of Adamu’s constitutionally guaranteed rights.
The statement was signed by the Founder/Publisher of WikkiTimes, Haruna Mohammed.
The Foundation alleges that the incident is part of a recurring pattern of police violence against journalists in Bauchi State, citing previous instances of assault and detention of its staff members.
The Foundation is calling for the suspension of SP Jamilu Kabir, identification and disciplinary proceedings against officers involved, and is seeking support from press freedom organisations to amplify the case.
The WikkiTimes Media Foundation’s response highlights concerns about the safety of journalists in Bauchi State and the need for accountability for actions taken against media personnel.
