The Bauchi State Government has expressed deep sympathy to journalists involved in a road accident along the Bauchi–Yelwan Duguri Road while on official assignment, assuring them of sustained support and quality medical care.

The accident occurred on Thursday as the journalists—drawn from Channels Television, African Independent Television (AIT), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV), and Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC)—were covering the commissioning of North East Development Commission (NEDC) projects by the Minister of State for Regional Development and the NEDC Managing Director.

Although the accident was described as severe, no life was lost. The injured journalists were promptly evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where they are currently receiving medical attention. Hospital authorities confirmed that while some of the victims sustained fractures and bruises, their conditions are stable and responding to treatment.

Governor Bala Mohammed, on behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State, conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the injured journalists, their families, colleagues, and media organisations.

He acknowledged the courage and commitment of journalists, noting that they often work under demanding and risky conditions in the course of public service.

The state government assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with hospital management to ensure the victims receive the best possible care until full recovery. The government also prayed for the speedy healing of the injured journalists and strength for them and their families during the difficult period.
