The Ikorodu Ferry Terminal officially announced its reopening for Monday, January 19, 2026, following a temporary closure due to water hyacinth infestation.
In an official update on Friday, January 16, LASWA management announced:
”This is to inform all ferry operators and terminal users that the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal will reopen for passenger ferry operations with effect from Monday, 19 January 2026.”
It is worth noting that the terminal was ‘closed on Monday, 20 October 2025 due to navigational concerns caused by water hyacinth infestation,’ with services ‘temporarily diverted to Ibeshe Terminal and Offin Jetty’ to ensure commuter safety.”
Beyond the reopening, the statement added that:
”Following the successful clearance of the waterway, completion of safety assessments, and consultations with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the terminal is now cleared for full operations.”
”All operators are hereby directed to resume normal services in line with their approved schedules and ensure full compliance with all existing safety and operational requirements.”
As Ikorodu Terminal reopens next week, Sooth News remains committed to highlighting the importance of full safety compliance to safeguard all passengers and assets.
