”Containers on barge to Terminal, We apologize”… Libra Terminal
In its passion towards achieving free or minimal complaints in the Industry, the Complaints Unit of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, recently resolved a complaint via telephone call on the delay of the release of cargoes belonging to Joe-Atkins IT & Power Resolutions, and others against Libra Terminal, Ikorodu, Lagos State since the arrival of the vessel on Friday, 30th May, 2025.
In a formal letter of complaint titled: Critical Condition signed by Mr. Joe Akin, the Managing Director of Joe-Atkins, IT & Power Solutions, stated that ”on release of their cargo with the following details ; container OOLU- U2181878 Bill Lading number COSU-9501788820.’ ‘The delay has caused our company critical issues, we lost over N100 Million LPO, with no exact date of getting our container. The cargo is Solar System, Hydra Inverter, Leums UPS”
The Head, Complaints Unit, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Bashir Ambi-Mohammed, on behalf of Akutah, Pius Ukeyima, Esq, MON, FCILT, FCIOTA, Ph.D, The Executive Secretary/CEO, welcomed the consignee and his agent to the Council.
The NSC promptly put a call to the Management of Libra Terminal where one Mr. Dare answered and apologized, stating, ”Our barge was on standby for the Past 2-week waiting for the cargoes to be loaded on the barge. Already, the barge is sailing to Ikorodu from Lekki. We will start releasing cargoes from Thursday evening or Friday. We will adhere to the points outlined by the NSC. They have free days”
Nigerian Shippers’ Council, however, advised the affected importers to take delivery within the stipulated free days provided by the terminal to avoid accrued terminal charges and warned against future delays in conveying containers to the terminal.
The complainant was grateful for Council’s resolution, ” We are taking delivery by Friday at no cost, very fair.”
