The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Pius Akutah,Esq, MON, FCILT, Ph.D was honored on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with a prestigious Award of Excellence by the Council’s Senior Staff Association. The accolade recognizes his visionary governance and the landmark industrial harmony achieved during his tenure.
The award serves as a testament to Dr. Akutah’s “people-first” administration, which has prioritized employee welfare as a cornerstone of institutional growth.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Akutah dedicated the honor to the Council’s workforce, describing the staff as the “engine room” of the NSC’s regulatory triumphs. “Our success is not a solo effort but a result of a pivotal partnership with our union,” Dr. Akutah stated. “A motivated workforce is indispensable to achieving our mandate within the maritime sector.”
The ceremony also marked Dr. Akutah’s second anniversary in office. Comrade Yakubu Mukthar, President of the Senior Staff Association, lauded the CEO’s two-year milestone, noting that his leadership has fostered a climate of transparency and mutual respect.
Reaffirming the union’s commitment, Comrade Mukthar pledged continued collaboration with management to drive the Council’s ambitious 2025 Strategic Goals.
Yakubu further emphasized the union’s readiness to support the CEO in delivering high-value regulatory reforms that will redefine Nigeria’s port operations for years to come.
