’’A Potential For The State’’: Bauchi CSC Promotes Ambi to Acting Director Role

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (BSCSC) has appointed Umar Adamu Ambi as the acting Director of Portfolio Management. Ambi was initially being considered for a Deputy Director role, but his exceptional performance and insightful contributions during a recent promotion interview led the commission to immediately elevate him to the vacant director position.

The appointments and promotions were formally endorsed during the commission’s plenary session on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

In a statement released by the Commission’s Information and Public Relations Officer (IPRO), Saleh Umar, the BSCSC also formalized the endorsement of three current acting Directors for substantive Director roles (Grade Level 16) in E-Governance, Computer Services, and Procurement.

Ambi, previously a Chief Portfolio Management Officer on Grade Level 14, was specifically noted in the statement. “Umar Ambi was earlier recommended for the post of Deputy Director, but his impressive performance during the interaction led the Commission’s members to consider him for the acting Director position, as a vacancy existed,” the statement explained.

The BSCSC also approved the promotion of numerous other officers across various departments. These deliberations were based on recommendations submitted by the Bureau of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Debt Management Board, and the State Orphan and Vulnerable Agency.

Other Promotions Approved:

  • Deputy Directors (GL 15): Chief Planning and Chief Operation Account Officers were promoted to Deputy Directors of Planning and Operation Account.
  • Various Ranks: Other officers were elevated from their previous ranks, including Chief Planning, Chief Portfolio Management, Assistant Chief Operations, and Principal Operations Officers.
  • Total Promotions: A total of 34 other successful candidates secured promotions to their next grades in specialized fields such as Architecture, Quantity Survey, Data Processing, and Social Welfare.

Commission Chairman Dr. Ibrahim Alh. Muhammad, mni, congratulated all the successful candidates, specifically highlighting Ambi’s potential. He described Ambi as a “potential for the State service” and commended his performance during the interview process.
