The Nigeria Police Force said, ‘We have not been formally served with the Federal High order stopping the enforcement of tinted-glass permits across the country.
Recall that the Federal High Court, in Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025: John Aikpokpo-Martins v. Inspector-General of Police & Nigeria Police Force, had on Friday granted an interim order directing the police to suspend enforcement of the permits pending the determination of the substantive case
The court order directed the police to maintain the status quo, and this halts any action against motorists with tinted vehicle windows until the case is concluded
Although Police spokesman CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the police had not been formally served with the court order, he made the announcement via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, October 4th
“While we have not been officially served the court order you’re referring to, let me, in the meantime, show point number eight (of the same order) since you left that part out and focused only on point number six. Nigerians deserve a complete picture, not a skewed one,” Hundeyin wrote.
After suspending the tinted-glass permit scheme in 2022, the Force announced its resumption in April 2023 under the Police Specialised Services Automation Project (POSSAP)
