The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) says the nation’s crude oil output increased to 1.63 million barrels per day (bpd) in August.
According to the Commission, the drilling record, which includes condensates, upticked by 5.47 percent from the 1.58 million bpd in the same period last year.
Commenting on its official X account on Saturday, 20th September, the NUPRC said the data was based on its crude oil and condensate production report for August 2025.
The commission however attributed the growth to improved operational efficiency and “a steady recovery across the upstream sector”.
“A breakdown of August 2025 production comprises 1.43 million bopd of crude oil, which grew 5.47 percent compared to August last year, which posted a daily crude oil average of 1.36 million bopd,” the NUPRC wrote.
“This reflects a steady recovery and improved operational performance across the industry.
“Daily condensate production in August stood at 197, 229 bpd, reflecting a slight decline from 220,435 bpd in August 2024.”
The agency said Nigeria’s crude oil production in August reached 96 percent of its OPEC production quota, which is set at 1.5 million bpd.
“This reflects a steady recovery and improved operational performance across the industry.
On a month-on-monthperformance basis, the regulatory body said there was a slight 4.7 percent drop in combined crude oil and condensate production from 1.71 million bpd in July.
“Similarly, crude oil production itself declined by 4.8%, down from 1.5 million bopd in July 2025,” the post reads.
“The month-on-month drop was driven by a single-day unscheduled maintenance at an oil facility.
“In the month of August, the lowest and peak combined crude and condensate production were 1.59 million bopd and 1.85 million bopd respectively.”
During the review period, the commission said Forcados terminal led in production, recording a total output of 8.99 million barrels, which included 8.08 million barrels of crude oil and 915,200 barrels of condensate.
According to the regulator, the Bonny terminal followed with a combined production of 6.26 million barrels, comprising 5.8 million barrels of crude oil and 418,270 barrels of condensate.
