STATE TOURISM CORPORATION, HOTELIERS LAUNCH DRIVE FOR BETTER HOSPITALITY DATA IN BAUCHI

By Bashir Hassan Abubakar

The Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has pledged to work with the Nigeria Hotels Association (NHA), Bauchi chapter, to create a unified database of all hotels operating across the state’s 20 local government areas.

BSTDC Managing Director, Dr. Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf, gave the assurance on Thursday, 18 September 2025, when the NHA leadership paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Dr. Yusuf said the initiative will ensure every hotel is duly registered in line with state guidelines for regulating hotels, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses.

He revealed that the Corporation has already developed a registration template to capture the names, addresses, and locations of all hotels.

“We aim to sanitize the system, align it with global best practices, and safeguard Bauchi’s reputation as the Pearl of Tourism,” he said

NHA state chairman, Mr. Tracy Folayan, said the association will soon begin registering members and assigning unique identity numbers to each hotel, which will be shared with BSTDC for easy reference.

Folayan noted that some hoteliers are yet to register, contrary to BSTDC regulations, stressing that the exercise will help create a “comprehensive and harmonized database for optimal performance.”

The association’s secretary, Danjuma Musa, added that NHA professionals are ready to partner with the government for the upcoming Bauchi Economic Summit.

The delegation also commended the state government for providing an enabling environment for the growth of the hospitality industry.

Journalists for Tourism, led by chairman Mr. Austin Tsenzugule and secretary Nasir Shuaibu, witnessed the visit.
