From Highway Kidnappers to Fake Lawyers: Bauchi Police Tighten the Noose

The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded significant successes against crime in January 2026, arresting suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, car thieves, impersonators, and fuel suppliers to bandits across the state.

The achievements were disclosed to press men yesterday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police (CP) Sani-Omolori during the Command’s first press briefing of the year.

SP Habib said that the police recovered stolen vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, firearms, and large quantities of ammunition, while promptly returning recovered property to rightful owners.

According to the Command’s PPRO , detachment of officers and men of the Command also peacefully resolved a major road blockade along the Bauchi–Jos highway, restoring normal traffic flow through diplomatic intervention.

Also , in the period under review, SP Habib disclosed that in Kirfi and Alkaleri areas, security operatives rescued kidnap victims, arrested key suspects, and disrupted criminal supply chains, including the interception of fuel meant for bandits.

The Command said the operations send a clear warning to criminals, while reaffirming its commitment to public safety and partnership with residents.
