The Police Service Commission (PSC) has initiated the recruitment process for 50,000 new constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
This process is driven by President Tinubu’s directive to prioritize citizen-focused policing and bolster internal security.
Torty Kalu, the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, officially announced on Thursday that the recruitment portal will be active from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026.
Kalu hailed the approval of the recruitment exercise as a significant stride in boosting police manpower. He emphasized the Commission’s unwavering commitment to a process that is “transparent, merit-based, and credible” for all applicants.
The commission has emphasized that all applications are entirely free. Prospective candidates are strongly warned to be cautious of fraudsters, as absolutely no payment is required at any point during the application process.
The following eligibility requirements outlined:
General Duty Applicants: Candidates must possess a minimum of five credits in GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, or an equivalent certificate. This must include English Language and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.
Specialist Cadre Applicants: A minimum of four credits, including English Language and Mathematics, is required, along with at least three years of relevant experience and appropriate trade tests.
General Criteria for All Applicants:
Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
Must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit.
Age Limits: 18–25 years for general duty; 18–28 years for specialists.
Note: Height requirements apply exclusively to general duty applicants.
Kalu, also confirmed that comprehensive guidelines and requirements will be available on the official recruitment portal (www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng) once it activates on December 15. Information will also be accessible via the official websites and social media channels of the PSC and NPF.
