The marriage of Motunrayo, daughter of former Nigerian Shippers’ Council Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) Mr. Erward Olusoji Ajia, drew a distinguished assembly of professionals to Marcellania’s Place in Ikeja on Saturday, November 6. The high-profile event temporarily paused traffic along the busy Isaac Jones Street as guests from across Nigeria and abroad arrived for the ceremony.

Mr. Ajia, a professional and renowned chartered accountant, retired from the Council in 2017 after more than two decades of dedicated service (1995–2016).
During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Occasion, Pastor Ademola Ogunlowu, season journalist and former editor at Guardian and Tell magazines, addressed the couple. He urged Motunrayo and Ademola to be patient with one another, emphasizing the core message: “Only God holds the key to a successful marriage.” He encouraged them to always put God first in their endeavors.

The union of the Ajia and Adelakun families was a truly elegant occasion, uniting prominent members from diverse professional strata.
Members of the “Shippers’ Council’s family,” both retired and serving, turned out in force. The esteemed guests included former Deputy Director/Head NSC Medical Dr. Obanya; former Deputy Director Insurance and Investment, Mrs. Odufuwa; former Director Finance and Admin, Mr. D. B. Bonat; and former Director Regulatory Services Ms. Ezedinma. Other former staff members present were Engr. Nestor and Peter Taiwo, along with current staff members Dr. Bashir Ambi and Mathew Egbeda.

The newly weds publicly acknowledged their parents, thanking them for their foundational support and steadfast guidance throughout their lives.

The colourful occasion concluded with dinner, dancing, and the distribution of gifts.
Sooth News observed Mr. Ajia beaming with joy as he personally saw off his important guests.
