The Federal Ministry of Education has strongly refuted widely circulated social media reports claiming schools nationwide were ordered to shut down effective November 24, 2025, due to recent student abductions by bandits.
Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, disclosed in a Saturday statement that the reports were false, misleading, and without a credible source. The statement emphasized that the directive did not come from any official government or security channel.
She advised the public to trust only authentic information from official channels, cautioning citizens against sharing unverified announcements to effectively manage misinformation.
The statement added that the Government through the Minister of Education has ordered the closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges due to rising security challenges and recent abductions.
However, the directive for immediate closure is limited to specific schools; it is not a national mandate.
The official statement concluded with a mandate for the public to consult verified sources for school operation updates
