The Deputy speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly Hon. Muhammad Bagudo, has regained his freedom after being held captive by bandits since Friday, 0ctober 31.
Earlier, Sooth News reported the unfortunate incident on Saturday, November 1st, that the lawmaker was abducted by suspected bandits in Bagudo LGA while returning home shortly after observing Isha’i prayer.
The spokesperson of the state Police Command, Nafi’u Abubakar, in a statement confirmed both Bagudo’s release on November 8, around 8 p.m., and his subsequent receipt of treatment at a medical facility before being reunited with his family.
“The Kebbi State Police Command is using this medium to commend the courage, resilience, and bravery of the combined team of security personnel deployed for search and rescue operations during the unfortunate incident” the statement reads.
“The command also appreciates the good people of Kebbi State, who provided vital and accurate information that was used to ensure the safe return of the Honourable member.”
Abubakar stressed the state command continues fighting banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in Kebbi.
He urged residents of the state to remain calm, exercise vigilance, and report all suspicious activity to security agencies for a prompt response.
