The Oyo State Government has on Friday, October 31, handed over title documents of 90 hectares of Land to the Federal Government through the Hon. Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, HE Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, for the development of an Inland Dry Port project at Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The title documents were presented by the Deputy Governor of the State, His Excellency, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal.
Oyetola was represented at the memorable occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy, Mr. Oloruntola Michael Olufemi.
In his address, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq, MON, FCILT, Ph.D. appreciated the Oyo State Government’s decision to partner with the Federal Government in the development of Inland Dry Port in the state.
Dr. Akutah was ably represented by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council’s Director, Inland Transport Services (ITS), Mr. Ahmadu Y. Garta. The ES/CEO said dry ports remain an integral part of modern trade facilitation, as they serve as extensions of seaports, providing shipping services to exporters and importers in the hinterlands and neighboring countries.
Akutah further highlighted the economic benefits the project will bring to the state and its environs.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor appreciated the Federal Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council for the resolve to develop transport infrastructure across the country. He reiterated the state’s commitment to the project. He, however, admonished the FMM&BE and the Council to stay committed to the project and ensure it is delivered in time for the benefits of the people of Oyo State and its environs.
His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, then handed over the Certificate of Occupancy for 90 hectares of land for the development of the Moniya Inland Dry Port project in Ibadan. Shortly after the certificate presentation, both the Federal Government and the State representatives conducted a brief inspection of the proposed project site.
