Constable Shot Dead During Confrontation With Soldier In Bauchi

Tragedy struck in Bauchi as a Police Constable was allegedly shot dead by a Soldier attached to the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the killing of Constable Ukasha Muhammed, who was gunned down during a confrontation with soldiers in the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi metropolis on Friday night, October 10.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the patrol team led by Inspector Hussaini Samaila encountered an assault on one of its members during a routine patrol.

One of the suspects, identified as Private Usman Mubarak, was arrested at the scene, while two others — Privates Yakubu Yahuza and Godspower Gabriel — later returned armed and allegedly shot the constable in the chest before fleeing.

The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The two soldiers have since been arrested, while investigations are ongoing.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a discreet investigation and an autopsy, urging personnel to remain calm as justice takes its course.
