In Bauchi State, the Police Command says it is working closely with the State Judiciary to prevent the premature release of convicted criminals through legal loopholes or political interference.
Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori, made this known while addressing journalists, members of the Police Community Relations Committee, and other stakeholders during the SERVICOM Week celebration at the Command Headquarters.
The Police Commissioner said the collaboration aims to ensure that those convicted by competent courts serve their full sentences as prescribed by law.
He described it as demoralizing when offenders regain freedom after the police have invested enormous time, effort, and resources in securing their convictions.
CP Omolori, however, expressed optimism that the renewed synergy with the judiciary is already yielding results, as such cases are now on the decline.
He appreciated the stakeholders for their continued support and assured that the Command remains committed to strengthening community policing across the state.
The event also featured the handover of several parcels of suspected cannabis sativa seized by the police to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA
