A delegation of North East governors, led by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on addressing the region’s pressing developmental needs, particularly the completion of 17 critical road projects and the resumption of oil exploration activities in the Kolmani and Lake Chad basins.

The governors, including Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), and Agbu Keffas (Taraba), urged President Tinubu to expedite the completion of key infrastructure projects. These include the Kano-Maiduguri Road, Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Damaturu Road, and Port Harcourt-Jos-Bauchi-Maiduguri Railway, among others.

Governor Zulum commended President Tinubu for his efforts in combating insurgency and promoting peace in the North East.

The governors pledged to support the administration’s initiatives on manpower development, technology-driven security, and food security under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

President Tinubu assured the governors that his administration would prioritize the North East’s infrastructural and economic needs.

He acknowledged the concerns raised and expressed his commitment to addressing them.
