EMIR OF ZURU, GENERAL MUHAMMADU SANI SAMI DIES AT 81

The death has occurred of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General, (Dr.) Muhammadu Sani Sami, Gomo 11, (Rtd) after a brief illness in London.

His family announced the royal father’s death on Sunday.

The late Emir was born on the 24th Oct, 1943, enlisted in the Nigerian Army on the 10th of December, 1962, received his military trainings at the Mons Officer Cadet School Aldershot, United Kingdom. He was commissioned on the 25th July, 1963.

He served with total commitment as he gained promotions and served in various sensitive appointments including Commander, Brigade of Guards, under General Murtala Muhammad regime, as well as the Military Governor of Bauchi State in December 1983.

After retiring from service, he became the Emir of Zuru. He was described as hardworking, simple and disciplined personality

He was a respected monarch, an outstanding Army General and a leader of amazing qualities.

Funeral rites will be announced later by the Emirate.
