……. As the Cooperative celebrates 29th AGM, shell out over N78 Million dividend
The Executive Secretary/CEO, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq, MON, FCILT, Ph.D recently motivated members of the Council’s Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited to prioritize developmental savings, integrity, real estate and other viable ventures towards achieving a robust financial stability and long-term wealth.
Dr. Akutah made this known during the 29th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Cooperative Society, held at the Council’s Corporate Headquarters, Apapa, Lagos.
The Executive Secretary/CEO, assured the Cooperative of his Management support concerning the process of securing approval for Certificate of Occupancy from the Nasarawa State Government for the Cooperative landed property situated at Jikoyi, Karu Local Government of the state.
He however Commended the performance of the Cooperative, especially its financial record and unity among members, the NSC boss called on the leadership to sensitize staff members on the significance of property ownership in any part of the Country.
Akutah, also pointed out, “I didn’t get to learn the value of owning properties early. As a young man, I thought shelter was my father’s responsibility. But land and property investments are the best you can make. Properties appreciate; cars depreciate,”
Earlier, in his opening remarks, the President of the NSC Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Mr. Adeyemi Olaolu, announced a net surplus of ₦156.41 million for the 2024 financial year—representing a ₦14.56 million increase from the previous year.
Olaolu, said our theme for this year is; “Sustainable Practices for Cooperative Development Amid Global Trade Wars,”
stressed the need for innovation, risk management, and diversification in sustaining the Cooperative’s strength despite global economic challenges.
He however presented updates on the Cooperative’s housing schemes, land acquisition efforts, ongoing litigation between Polysonic Nig. Ltd and Cooperative, dare need of developing Cooperative land at Mowe and appealed to the Council’s Management for intervention.
The Chairman of the occasion and Acting Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Stephen Olaniyi, represented by Mrs. Foluke Olaleru, commended the clean record, transparency and accountability shown by the Cooperative.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Director of Strategic Planning and Research, Mr. Rotimi Anifowose who offered some useful advice to members, immediate past presidents of the Cooperative, Mr. Idowu Babatunde and Dr. Bashir Ambi, representative of the state director of the Cooperatives affairs, Mrs. Z. O. Ibrahim represented by Mrs. Olubunmi Lawson, the Apapa Area Officer, Cooperative.
